Arbor Day in Rochester Hills
Arbor Day in Rochester Hills 2017On the last Friday in April (Arbor Day), Parks and Natural Resources conducts an annual tree-planting ceremony with the Mayor presiding and often a local scouting or youth group in attendance. Different sites are selected each year for the Arbor Day tree; Borden, Spencer, and Avondale Parks, and City Hall grounds have all been chosen in the past.

2020 Arbor Day Ceremony
The 2020 tree planting ceremony commemorating Arbor Day was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Rochester Hills - Tree City USA
Rochester Hills has been recognized as a Tree City USA since 1990. The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service. To become a Tree City USA, a community must meet four standards: a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, a comprehensive community forestry program, and an Arbor Day observance.
