How to Reserve a Shelter
Reservations can be made for the current calendar year only, beginning in January. Call the Parks Department at 248.656.4673 Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm to make a reservation. Always call to confirm that your requested reservation date is available prior to sending in your signed
Shelter Reservation Form and payment.

Shelter Availability

Shelters are available for rent during weekends May through October. Tents are available for rent weekends from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day. Weekday shelter and tent reservations can be made from May through October when summer groups/camps are not using the facilities or after 4 pm at Spencer Park and after 6 pm at Bloomer Park when day camps end.  Weekday shelter reservations must be approved by the Park Ranger to ensure adequate staffing.  There is no discounted fee for partial-day rentals.

Reservation Fees
Shelter reservation fees vary by shelter and do not include a motor vehicle entry fee. View the Park Fee Schedule for current rates. Fees are not discounted for partial day usage.

Reservation regulations include:
  • Shelters and tents must be vacated one hour prior to park closing time.
  • Shelter restrooms are open to the general public and must remain accessible.
  • Alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited within all city owned parks.
  • Shelters that are not reserved are available to be shared by all park visitors and cannot be held on a first come, first served basis for any group.
  • Caterers and rental companies, walk-a-thons and race events must supply a copy of their insurance. View the Insurance Instructions and Sample Certificate of Liability Insurance document for more details.

Special Arrangements
Special arrangements must be pre-approved by the park ranger one month prior, and any insurance requirements must be met 14 days prior to the reservation date. Special arrangements include but are not limited to:
  • Bike races
  • Caterers cooking / serving on site
  • Dunk tanks
  • Inflated rides
  • Walk-a-thons
