Curbside recycling for single-family homes in the city is provided each week. Check out the following benefits:
  • Recyclable items must be placed in the 65-gallon curb cart provided. Collection will be weekly on your scheduled collection day. Recycling does not need to be separated.

Recycling Rewards Program powered by Recyclebank:
The City has partnered with Recyclebank to reward recycling activity. Residents who participate earn points each week and are eligible to receive exclusive coupons that can be redeemed at national and local businesses.

Hazardous Waste Recycling by Appointment
Hazardous waste material, like paint, chemicals and electronics, cannot be left at curbside but can be recycled at the Southeastern Oakland County Resource Recovery Authority (SOCRRA) Drop-off Center five days a week. The Drop-off Center is located at 995 Coolidge, Troy, MI (between 14 Mile and Maple).

Household Hazardous Waste

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, SOCRRA's Recycling Drop-off Center will be accessible by appointment blocks only to drop-off any acceptable material including recyclables, use of the paper shredder, household hazardous waste, and electronics recycling. Drop-off Center hours are 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Appointments can be made via SOCRRA's website at The appointment process will ensure the health and safety of both staff and users of the Center.

There is a $10 per car fee and a Rochester Hills voucher is required for electronic recycling and household hazardous waste. Vouchers can be purchased at the Treasury desk at Rochester Hills City Hall (during normal business hours) and online.

Please note: Residents will be required to wear a mask while visiting the Drop-off Center during their scheduled appointment time. Proof of Rochester Hills residency will be verified by an attendant.
